How To Get More Views By Answering Specific Questions

How To Get More Views By Answering Specific Questions

In this video, I want to show you how to get more views by answering specific questions. One of the simplest ways to get more views on YouTube is to answer the specific questions that people are already asking.

This may sound obvious, but it is something many creators overlook. Instead of creating videos around broad topics, vague ideas, or subjects we personally feel like talking about, we need to think carefully about what our audience is actually searching for.

In this post, I want to talk about the ASQ method, which stands for Answer Specific Questions. This is a strategy I have been learning more about through Sean Cannell’s Video Ranking Academy, and it is a very practical way to create videos that have a better chance of being found on YouTube.

What Is The ASQ Strategy?

The ASQ strategy is about creating one video that answers one specific question.

Instead of trying to cover too much in one video, the aim is to focus on one clear subject and give the viewer a helpful answer. This makes the video easier to understand, easier to title, and easier for YouTube to understand.

For example, rather than making a broad video called:

How To Grow On YouTube

You could create a much more specific video such as:

  • How do I get more views on a new YouTube channel?
  • How do I write a better YouTube title?
  • How do I find video ideas people are searching for?
  • How do I install OBS on a Windows computer?
  • How do I create a YouTube thumbnail?

Each of these questions could become its own video.

Why Specific Questions Work So Well On YouTube

YouTube is not just a video platform. It is also a search engine. Millions of people go to YouTube every day looking for answers, tutorials, reviews, explanations, and help with problems.

When your video answers a clear question, you give YouTube a better reason to show your content to the right viewer.

This is especially useful for smaller channels because you do not need to rely on having a huge audience already. A helpful video that answers a real question can continue bringing in views for months or even years.

I have experienced this myself. Some of my best-performing videos have been very simple. They were not necessarily complicated or highly produced, but they answered a question that people were searching for.

Simple Videos Can Often Bring In Long-Term Views

One thing I have learned over the years is that simple does not mean unimportant.

Sometimes we assume that everyone already knows the basics. But that is not true. There are always people just starting out who need clear, simple answers.

I remember when I first started researching internet marketing, I could see the potential of the internet, but I did not really know where to begin. I had to search, learn, test things, and gradually build up my knowledge.

After more than 20 years online, it is easy to forget what it feels like to be a complete beginner. That is why beginner questions are so powerful.

Do Not Overcomplicate Your Videos

Many creators make the mistake of trying to cover too much in one video.

If you try to answer five or six questions at once, the video can become too broad. The viewer may lose interest, and YouTube may have a harder time understanding exactly what the video is about.

A better approach is:

  • One question
  • One video
  • One clear answer

This keeps the content focused and useful.

Where Can You Find Questions To Answer?

There are many places to find questions for YouTube videos.

One example I mentioned in my video is Wealthy Affiliate. Inside the platform, people ask questions about search engine optimisation, websites, affiliate marketing, content creation, and many other online business topics.

Those questions can become useful video ideas.

Other places to find questions include:

  • YouTube search suggestions
  • Google search suggestions
  • Comments on your own videos
  • Comments on other creators’ videos
  • Facebook groups
  • Forums
  • Online communities
  • Training platforms
  • Questions you personally had to solve

One of my favourite ways to create a video is to solve a problem myself and then make a tutorial showing others how to do the same thing.

For example, I recently installed OBS Studio on my Windows computer. It was something I had wanted to do for a long time. Once I worked through the process, I created a video showing how to install it.

That is a perfect example of the ASQ method in action.

Use YouTube Search For Video Ideas

YouTube itself can give you plenty of clues.

Start typing a phrase into the YouTube search bar and look at the suggestions that appear. These suggestions can show you what people are already looking for.

For example, if you start typing something like “how to create successful videos”, YouTube may show suggestions related to creating effective videos, making TikTok videos, creating video ads, or growing a channel.

These are all clues.

You do not have to copy other people’s videos, but you can look for patterns. If people are asking similar questions again and again, that is a sign there may be demand for that subject.

This Works In Almost Any Niche

The ASQ strategy is not just for internet marketing channels.

It can work in almost any niche where people have questions or problems to solve.

For example:

  • Puppy training
  • Cooking
  • Bible study
  • Audio equipment
  • Computer setup
  • Video editing
  • Affiliate marketing
  • WordPress
  • Gardening
  • DIY tutorials

If people are searching for answers, there is an opportunity to create helpful videos.

Beginner Questions Are Often The Best Questions

One of the most important lessons is this: do not ignore basic questions.

What seems obvious to you may be brand new to someone else.

If you have been in your niche for several years, you may assume that everyone already knows the simple things. But many people are just beginning. They need someone to explain things clearly and patiently.

Some of the best video ideas are the questions that seem almost too simple.

For example:

  • How do I start a YouTube channel?
  • How do I upload a video?
  • How do I choose a YouTube title?
  • How do I create a WordPress website?
  • How do I start affiliate marketing?

These may sound basic, but they are exactly the sort of questions beginners are asking.

Do Not Expect Every Video To Take Off

It is important to be realistic.

Not every video will get thousands of views. Some videos may only get a few views at first. That does not mean the strategy is not working.

YouTube growth often comes from testing, learning, improving, and continuing to publish helpful content.

Sometimes a video may surprise you. It may start slowly and then continue to gain views over time. Other times, a video may not perform as expected, but it still teaches you something valuable.

The key is to keep creating videos that answer real questions for real people.

How This Helps Build An Online Business

Answering specific questions is not just about getting views. It can also help build trust.

When someone finds your video because you answered their question, they may then watch another video, visit your website, join your email list, or eventually buy through one of your recommendations.

This is why YouTube can be so powerful for affiliate marketing and online business.

You are not just creating random content. You are building a library of helpful answers that can continue working for you long after the video is published.

Video Ranking Academy

In the video, I also mention Sean Cannell’s Video Ranking Academy, which I have been part of for several years.

It is a paid training programme that teaches YouTube strategy, video ranking, content creation, and channel growth. I bought access around five and a half years ago, and I am still using the training today.

One of the things I like is that it is lifetime access. There is a one-off cost, or payment plan options, and once it is paid for, you can continue to access the training and updates.

Final Thoughts

If you want to get more views on YouTube, start by answering specific questions.

Do not overcomplicate your videos and do not assume everyone already knows the basics. Do not try to answer ten questions in one video.

Find one question your audience is asking and answer it clearly.

Over time, this can help your videos get found, bring in new viewers, build trust, and support your online business.

The ASQ method is simple, but it is powerful. One helpful video answering one specific question could continue bringing views, subscribers, leads, and opportunities for years to come.
