How To Add Cursor Effects To A Camtasia Video

Today, the title of my thumbnail shows how to add cursor effects to a video using Camtasia. Camtasia, which TechSmith creates, has vast amounts of functionality, so there is quite a large learning curve. Camtasia is also regularly making improvements to the software, so I want to keep people updated with Camtasia by creating short tuition videos. You can find more posts and videos on Camtasia here
I’m actually using the latest version of Camtasia, as I’m signed up for Camtasia maintenance. This is something I would recommend as this gives you free upgrades and telephone support. I’ve used the support on a number of occasions to ask various questions and I have to say that it’s very helpful.

Camtasia has various cursor effects that can be used to enhance your videos. There are all sorts of cursor effects; you can even add your own if required. However, I’m going to use the default cursor effects.

Let’s move to the left-hand side of the screen and scroll down to cursor effects. We can see that there are a number of effects that we can use, but for the purpose of this video. We will use cursor colour and cursor highlight. These are features that I quite often use, as many of my videos are how-to videos. So often use the cursor is almost a pointer to where I am going. Having the cursor highlight and the cursor colour, helps to enhance the video.
The colour of the cursor can be changed at any time to whatever colour we require. For the purpose of this video I’m going to stick with the bright yellow colour, as is appears to stand out fairly well on my videos.
If you want to delete any of these features at any time, we can do this by clicking on the arrow below the track. This will bring up the cursor highlight feature and the cursor colour feature. We can right-click if the side that we don’t need these features.
