In this video I want to talk about Sean Cannell’s video ranking academy review and is it worth it? I’ve been a member of Sean Cannell’s Video Ranking Academy for around four years, and in this post I want to share my honest experience and why I still believe it is worth it.
If you are trying to grow a YouTube channel (especially if you want your videos to rank in YouTube search), it’s very easy to get overwhelmed. There are endless opinions online, constant changes on the platform, and a lot of training that sounds good but lacks structure. For me, Video Ranking Academy stands out because it is practical, step-by-step, and built around repeatable systems rather than hype.

Who Is Sean Cannell?
Sean Cannell is best known for Think Media, and he has built a large YouTube presence around helping creators improve their video quality, grow their channels, and build income streams from content. One of the things I personally like about Sean’s approach is that you usually come away with something practical you can apply immediately.
I don’t watch every single video he produces, but I watch enough to know that his content is consistently useful. Even if you never join Video Ranking Academy, his public YouTube content is still valuable.
What Video Ranking Academy Looks Like Inside
When you log in, you are presented with a library of training. Because I joined several years ago, my dashboard may look slightly different to what a new member sees today, but the main training is there and the structure is clear.
The core course (Video Ranking Academy) is the main attraction. The other trainings are bonuses, and many of them are genuinely worth watching as well.
The Main Modules
Here is a simple overview of the main course structure, based on what I showed in the video:
- Module 1: Getting Started
- Module 2: Introduction to the Seven Rs Framework (how to build ranked videos step-by-step)
- Module 3: The 10 YouTube Commandments
- Module 4: The Best Way to Start Making Money on YouTube
- Module 5: How to Succeed in Video Ranking Academy
- Module 6: Congratulations / completion
There are also additional trainings such as Master’s Academy and YouTube Shorts training.
The Seven Rs Framework (Why This Matters)
One of the most helpful parts of the course is the framework approach. Instead of throwing random tactics at you, it teaches a process you can repeat. That matters because YouTube growth is not normally about one viral video. It is about building a consistent method you can apply again and again.
This fits well with how I think about online business in general: systems beat guesswork.

Does The Training Stay Up To Date?
Yes, and this is a big reason I’ve stayed positive about it.
YouTube changes constantly. What worked years ago does not always work today. One thing Sean does well is update training when platforms and strategies shift. That means you are not buying something that becomes irrelevant and then gets abandoned.
In fact, I’m planning to go through the course again from the beginning, because revisiting training with more experience often helps you notice things you missed the first time.
The Community Support (Facebook Group)
Video Ranking Academy also includes a members Facebook group. At the time of recording, it showed over 18,000 members.
Now, I’ll be honest: I am not personally a big fan of Facebook groups. I use Facebook, but I prefer forums and more focused communities. That said, if you do like Facebook groups, it can be very useful. You can post questions and usually get a response fairly quickly.

How Much Does Video Ranking Academy Cost?
Pricing can change over time, but in my video I referenced the current pricing I could see:
- Pay in full: $1,297
- Payment plans (examples shown): six payments of $225, four payments of $325, or twelve payments of $115
I also mentioned that I believe I paid around $1,000 when I joined and that I used a payment plan at the time.
Is it cheap? No. But if you are serious about YouTube and you are willing to do the work, I believe it is worth it because it gives you structure, clarity, and a proven process.
Who Is This For?
I think Video Ranking Academy is best suited for you if:
- You want a clear system for creating videos that can rank in YouTube search
- You are prepared to apply what you learn and stay consistent
- You like structured training rather than random tips
- You want ongoing value you can return to, not a one-time quick fix

A Quick Note On Consistency (And Why It Matters)
Training is only as good as the action you take. Over time I’ve found that steady progress wins, especially with YouTube. If you want a couple of posts that relate to momentum and growth, here are two worth reading:
Final Thoughts: Is Video Ranking Academy Worth It?
For me, yes.
I’ve been a member for years, I still use the training, and I’m going back through it again because the fundamentals are strong and the material gets updated. If you are serious about building a YouTube channel the right way, I believe Video Ranking Academy is worth considering.
If you have any questions about my experience with it, feel free to leave a comment and I will do my best to reply.
