The title of my blog post and video is, what is Wealthy Affiliate? I have been working online for quite a few years now and joined the Wealthy Affiliate platform 11 years ago. Before that, I actually started making money online in around 2007, but I had one big problem:
I Didn’t Have A Clear Plan
I was trying to piece things together from different places, which made progress very slow. Wealthy Affiliate changed that for me by giving me a structured, step-by-step path to follow. In this blog post, I want to give you a straightforward overview of what Wealthy Affiliate is and what you can expect when you log in.

Wealthy Affiliate Gives You A Step-By-Step Plan
One of the biggest advantages of Wealthy Affiliate is that you are not left guessing what to do next. The core training is laid out in phases and lessons, and you can simply work through it at your own pace.
In the video that goes with this post, I show the core training area from inside my account. You will see that:
- Phase 1 starts with the basics – getting started, understanding how the platform works, and laying the foundations for your online business.
- Phase 2 moves into building your brand, creating content, designing a logo, and starting to build momentum.
Each phase is broken down into individual lessons. Kyle, one of the co-owners of Wealthy Affiliate, takes you through the training and explains things in a practical way. You are not just watching theory; you are given tasks to complete as you go along.
This is not a “one-minute wonder” or a get-rich-quick scheme. It is a genuine training platform that shows you the proper route to building an online business. Shortcuts are usually what cause people to fail. Wealthy Affiliate focuses on doing things the right way.
The Wealthy Affiliate Community And Support
Another important part of the platform is the community. Over the years, I have asked hundreds of questions inside Wealthy Affiliate and received replies from other members and experienced marketers.
In the video, I show my profile where you can see:
- Hundreds of questions asked over 11 years.
- Many replies on each question, often from people with real experience.
- Over 200 blog posts that I have written inside the platform.
You can blog inside Wealthy Affiliate, ask questions, and interact with like-minded people who are also building online businesses. It is not a social platform like Facebook. The idea is to stay focused on building your online business and to use the tools and training to move forward.
Websites, Domains And Hosting
Wealthy Affiliate is not just training. The platform also offers website hosting and domain services, so you can keep things under one roof if you choose.
You can:
- Host your websites on the Wealthy Affiliate servers.
- Buy domains directly through the platform if you prefer.
- Manage your sites, backups, security and performance from one dashboard.
Personally, I have some of my websites hosted at Wealthy Affiliate and others on a dedicated server. I know from experience that the hosting at Wealthy Affiliate works well, and especially when you are starting out, it is reassuring to have everything looked after for you.
Free Starter Account Versus Premium Membership
In the video, I also show a separate test account I created purely for demonstration purposes. This is a completely free Starter account, which lets me see exactly what a new member sees.
As a free Starter member you can:
- Access the first phase of the core training.
- Explore the dashboard and get used to how everything works.
- Set up your profile and start to get a feel for the community.
Some lessons and features are locked on the free plan, and you will see little padlock icons where you cannot yet access certain areas. However, the free account is more than enough to test the platform properly.
When I first joined, I had already done plenty of research and I quickly realised Wealthy Affiliate was a good fit for me. I personally upgraded straight away. However, for anyone new to the platform, my recommendation is simple:
Create a free account, test it properly, and only upgrade if you feel it is right for you.
Black Friday Offer (If You’re Reading This In November)
If you are reading this around November, Wealthy Affiliate usually runs a strong Black Friday promotion on the Premium membership. This can be a good time to upgrade if you already know you like the platform and want to commit for the longer term.
I have another post which looks at this in more detail here:
How To Get Started With Wealthy Affiliate
If you are completely new to Wealthy Affiliate, here is a simple way to get started:
- Create a free account at Wealthy Affiliate.
- Complete your profile so people know who you are.
- Start with the first lesson in Core Training – Phase 1: Getting Started.
- Work through the lessons step by step and complete the tasks after each video.
- Ask questions whenever you get stuck – the community is there to help.
There is no time limit on the free Starter membership, so you can take your time and get a proper feel for how everything works before making any decisions.
