Why Building With a Team Changes Everything

Why Building With A Team Changes Everything

In this video, I want to talk about why building with a team changes everything. For most of my working life, I have done things on my own. I have built businesses from scratch, learned through experience, and asked for help as and when I needed it. But over the past six months, I have experienced something I probably resisted for too long: building alongside a team.

Being part of a supportive team has shown me just how much faster you can move forward when you are not trying to figure everything out alone. In this post, I want to share what I have learned so far, why it matters, and who this approach is (and is not) for. If you would like to join the team, have a look at this video presentation, which explains more.

Why Teams Help You Grow Faster

When you build on your own, you can make progress, but it is easier to get stuck. You can spend hours trying to solve something that someone else could explain in five minutes. You can also lose motivation, especially when you feel like you are the only one working on improving your situation.

A good team does not do the work for you, but it does give you three major advantages:

  • Shared knowledge: if you do not know something, someone else usually will.
  • Encouragement: it is easier to stay consistent when you are around people who are moving forward too.
  • Momentum: steady progress becomes normal when you see others taking action.

This is closely related to something I have written about before: the long-term difference that comes from being around the right people. If you have not read that post yet, you can find it here: Get Around The Right People.

My Experience So Far (Six Months In)

Around six months ago, I was invited to join something new. What was different about it was that it involved being part of a team. At first, I was not sure it was for me. I have always been independent, and I am used to working alone.

However, I quickly started to see the benefits. There are regular team meetings (you do not have to attend), but I like to join because I want to keep learning and improving. There is always someone willing to help, and that makes a big difference when you are trying to move forward.

This is also the first time I have actively built a team myself. In the last six months, I have built a team of 31 people. There are teams above me with bigger teams, and teams below me with smaller teams, but what has surprised me most is the attitude.

Is There Competition In a Team?

This is a fair question, and the answer (in my experience) is no. A good team is not built on competition. It is built on helping one another move forward.

If someone asks a question and one person does not know the answer, someone else usually does. That is one of the biggest benefits. You do not feel isolated, and you do not feel like you are reinventing the wheel every time you hit a problem.

Who This Is For (And Who It Isn’t)

This is not for people who want overnight success, or people who want someone to hold their hand while they do nothing. Real progress still requires effort and a willingness to learn.

This is for people who:

  • want to improve their life in a steady and realistic way
  • are willing to learn new things
  • value support and encouragement
  • understand that consistency matters more than quick wins

If You Want To Know What I Joined

Does being part of a supportive team appeals to you, I have put together a presentation that explains what I am involved in and how it works. I always encourage people to watch the presentation first, because it makes life easier when you understand what you are looking at and can decide whether it is for you.

You can view the presentation here: The 9M AI Investments Platform Presentation.

Final Thoughts

I have built businesses on my own, and that can work. But being part of a team has shown me how much faster you can move when you are surrounded by helpful people who want to see each other do well.

If you would like to join a friendly team, step out of your comfort zone, and do something different this year, have a look at the presentation above and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
