How Accurate Is AI – Be Careful!
The title on my thumbnail is ‘How Accurate is AI – Be Careful. Now, I have always had reservations about AI. It started to become very big, it literally seemed like this year in the new January 2023. I’m on a platform where they teach a bit about AI, and I suppose I’m a little bit anti-AI as I can see the bad bits. But at the same time, I can see it can be helpful for some things, but I would say that we have to use it with extreme care. You can see my previous blog post about screen sharing software here.
Now, I’m actually doing a course, a certification course on a product that I’m using right now to record this video, which is called Camtasia. I made a little video the other day about it. I’ve used Camtasia probably for about 15 years. There’s also a lighter product, if you like, which is cheaper, doesn’t have quite the same functionality, but it is still a good product. I have both, called Snagit. But most of the time, I use Camtasia.
So, I’m doing the Camtasia certification course, and you can see here there are training modules and three videos. And then after that, I had to take a quiz and so forth. At the end of it, you receive a certification certificate. So you can see here I got seven out of eight, 87% correct. So I thought, ‘You see, I could take the quiz again.’ So last week, I thought I was going to see how AI answers it just for a bit of fun. I’d already passed, but let’s see what AI does.
Putting AI To The Test!
So, I put the questions in very accurately and explained what I was doing. I gave it the prompt because the prompts are very, very important. It’s also important to make a fresh prompt. So this is like some of the questions I asked. I told it what I was doing; it knew what I was doing. And it gave me some really what sounded like brilliant answers, detailed and so forth. And yet, when I got the answer, when I came to the end of this quiz, I only got four out of eight. So it was a fail.
Be Careful With AI
Now, obviously, it didn’t matter because I had already passed, and like I said, you can take the quiz again. But it just shows how inaccurate AI can be. It sounded brilliant what it was doing, it gave me detailed answers, but it was wrong, or it only got 50% of the answers correct, which is very poor when you’re trying to pass information on to people.
Another Test for AI
Hence, it comes back to my title here: ‘How Accurate is AI? Be Careful.’ So I would say, take care. This is actually the platform that I belong to, been a member for my 10th year now. A successful member wrote this back in February: ‘Is AI Neutral? Truth Revealed.’ So he’s put in here, ‘Write a poem about the positive attributes of Donald Trump,’ and it says, ‘I’m sorry, as a language model developed by OpenAI, I’m not programmed to produce content that is partisan, biased, or political in nature. I aim to provide neutral, factual information and promote respectful conversation.’
So, next question, ‘Positive attributes of Biden. Write a poem about the positive attributes of Joe Biden: Joe Biden, a leader with heart so true, a man with empathy and kindness in view.’ So, two different answers for the same question. Once again, it comes back to my title: ‘How Accurate is AI? Be Careful.’
Now, I believe that they will be working on it and making it better, but is it going to be biased? Is it going to put out inaccurate information? Supposing I was writing an article about Camtasia, and I used AI as answers and only half of them were correct, I’d be giving false information to people, and that’s what we don’t want to do. We want to give accurate information that helps people, not inaccurate information.
To Conclude
So that’s all I have to say, but just take care with AI. Use it as a tool, use it as a helper, but be very, very careful. And if you have any comments on this or where you can get training on AI, I’m here to help, as I have carried out some training on this platform here. You can see my profile here. Please feel free to leave any comments or experiences that you have with AI. I’d be interested to hear. Anyway, thank you very much for watching. Until next time.
