Today I would like to show you how to add a custom subscribe button on YouTube. I recently noticed in the last few weeks that many YouTube channels are now showing a subscribe icon down the right-hand side of the screen. To me, this is a great way to encourage viewers to subscribe to your channel.
How To Add A Custom Subscribe Button On YouTube
So first of all, make sure that you are logged into your YouTube channel. Then click on your channel icon in the top right-hand corner of the web page. You will then see a drop-down menu, go to the third setting down which says “YouTube studio (beta)”.
Now on the left-hand side of the page, you should be able to see your dashboard. If you look below the dashboard, you should be able to see “settings”. Click on “settings”, which will then open up a smaller window. And then go to the second option on the left-hand side which says “channel”. Click on the “channel button”, which will then open up more settings in the centre of the page.
You then need to click on “branding” you will then need to click on “upload an image” to this page.

To find an image, I went to Google and searched for “subscribe button for YouTube”. You will have many options when you click on “images”. Once you have found the required image, right-click on the image. Then you can save the image to a folder where you can find the image easily. I then saved the image to my pictures and then created a folder within my pictures, called YouTube.
You can now upload your image to YouTube, don’t forget to click save.
Now you will also have the option to decide when you want to display your subscribe button. You will see the following options, at the start of the video, at the end of the video or all the way through. If you choose to add the subscribe button at a certain point, you can decide what time you want the subscribe button to appear.
I chose to have the subscribe button permanently displayed as I feel it’s a good opportunity for viewers to see the button and then subscribe to your channel. This is not the default setting, the default setting is for the end of the video. This may be just the way YouTube has the setting rather than meaning that it is better to have the subscribe button at the end of the video.

My thoughts are if you leave the subscribe button for the end of the video, as viewers may not see all your videos all the way through. So it could be a lost opportunity.
Once you have carried out all these points, then find one of your videos from your channel and check to see that the subscribe button is showing. Don’t be surprised if the subscribe button is not showing as, it did take about five minutes for me before the subscribe button actually showed up. I don’t know if this is normally what happens but it happened to me.
