Is It Possible To Set Up A Twitter Account Anymore?

My blog and video post today is entitled, “Is it possible to set up a Twitter account anymore?” I already have a few Twitter accounts; they are normally very straightforward to set up. This particular Twitter account will be set up alongside a website I’m creating. This blog post is slightly different from my normal posts, due to my frustration of setting up a Twitter account. However, you can see my previous blog post on how to choose the right affiliate products here.

However, I went through the usual process of putting in the necessary details. I was then asked to authenticate my new Twitter account; this was much easier said than done! So I clicked on the authenticate button, which showed an animated picture of a dartboard. On the left-hand side of the dartboard is the number 20. I have to add up the total number of the darts on the board and see if they match the figure on the left. Fortunately, I can add up fairly quickly; however, it’s a very slow process as they want you to do this process 15 times, and then you will fail at the end!

I have tried this process several times without any success. So, I then thought I would try on my mobile phone to see if I could create a new account on a smartphone. I don’t usually like setting up accounts from a phone as it’s just too fiddly. However, on this occasion, I’m going to try.

Have a look at the video below, which will show you the process that I went through.

I Thought It May Be Easier on My SmartPhone

I appear to be getting on much better creating a Twitter account on my smartphone. However, everything was going fine; Twitter even sent me a code to my email address. When I went to put the code in, it said there was a problem and I needed to start again!

Finally success!

I read an article from Neal Schaffer; you can see the article here regarding setting up a Twitter account. I contacted Neal through Twitter, as it so happened that we were already following each other on the platform. He suggested that I try creating an account 24 hours later, so I did!

I first quickly tried on my PC with Google Chrome without any success, although thankfully, the dartboard authentication process was no longer being used. That is the most ludicrous authentication process that I have ever come across! I then thought I would try on my Android phone, but once again, no success! I then thought I would try it on my PC using the Firefox browser. Thankfully, this worked!

Overall, I would say it took four hours to create my Twitter account. This is something that realistically should take no longer than 10 minutes, even if you haven’t created a Twitter account before! I’m just pleased that the account is up and running.

Twitter Is My Preferred Social Media Account

I must admit that I do find Twitter very quick and easy to use. Even on a mobile, it’s quick and easy to use, even though I’m not a fan of smartphones! Platforms like Facebook are just awfully clunky and time-consuming to use and just such a fiddle on a mobile device.

Let me know what your experience is in currently setting up a Twitter or X account, please. As I mentioned, I have set up several Twitter accounts over the years and never encountered a problem.

YouTube Transcript

In this video, I want to talk about whether it’s possible to set up an X or Twitter account, as it’s known now, anymore. Now, I’ve got a few Twitter accounts, and I’m trying to set up a new one, so let me take you to this page.

I’ll put in my details, etc. We go to next and connect with people you know, but I’m not going to do that. Going here now, create your account, and then it’s telling me to authenticate my account. We need to make sure that you’re a real person, so let’s authenticate it.

Ludicrous Authentication

And here, this is the ludicrous bit. It says use the arrows to pick the image where all the dots add up to the numbers in the left one, 15. Now, if it’s just like once or twice, I can understand that, but I’ll do it once, and I’ll show you how many times. I think there are about 10 stages, so let’s add this up. That’s wrong, that’s wrong, so we got to make it come to 20, and it’s got to be where the dots are. So that’s wrong, that’s wrong, that’s wrong, that’s wrong, that’s wrong, that’s wrong. What do we got there? 15, 20, that’s the one, so I do submit.

I don’t know if you saw those lines as I press submit, but I think there’s about 10 lines. I’m going to do one more and then I’m going to pause the video until I get to the end because you don’t want to watch this whole process.

So now we need five. Let, I’ve got the number here, five, side up to seven, so go to the next one. You can see there’s all these choices here, I think there’s about 15 choices. That doesn’t work, it’s not that, it’s not, no, no, no, no, no, no. When we have five, so click submit. Okay, so let’s pause the video because I’ve got to, it’s going to take me quite a few minutes to do this.

Let’s See What Happens

Okay, I’m now back, and I’m on the last sort of round, there’s 15 of these processes to go through, so we’re going for 19 now, and so that’s not it, 10, yep, that’s it, 9, 10, 11, 12, 19, so let’s see what happens, let submit. That this was not quite right, and so, saying just, there’s nowhere else to click so you have to go try again, and then you do the process all over again. And I’ve done this several times this afternoon. I’m actually going to try, before finishing this video. I’m going to try on my mobile to see if that works, and I will come back and let you know if that worked. I can’t show the mobile on the screen to take you through the process, but I’m going to try and I’ll come back in a moment.

Okay, I’m back. I tried creating an account on my phone. So, I thought I’d been successful, so much so that I had a confirmation code come through. I put the code in, and then it said something’s gone wrong and took me back to another Twitter account. So I’m just going to try for the sake of the video on here, I’m going to sign in just to see if it recognizes an account. I don’t think it will, no, it says sorry we couldn’t find your account.

A Complete Waste Of Time

So, I have probably wasted about three and a half hours of time today trying to sign up with Twitter and for another account without success. So if anyone else is having a problem, please let me know. It would be interesting to know what the way around it is. I’ve tried it on mobile and PC with no success. Anyway, I hope you have an easier time than me. Just out of interest, it was a bit easier, although I don’t like using mobile phones to sign up for things because they’re just too small, not because of security. The process was a bit easier, as in the authentication process, just for you to know. So please let me know if you got any comments. Thanks very much.
