It Time to Take Action Christian Devotional
It’s time to take action Christian devotional.
Has God told you to do something and you actually haven’t done anything you keep putting off what God has told you to do? I know that God has a great plan for our lives and he wants to see his children succeed and prosper, he has given us everything on this earth that we need. I appreciate that in some countries governments take from the people and corruption is rife, but this is not God’s plan for your life, his plan is for you to take action and succeed!
I remember around 12 years ago when God spoke to me and told me to do something, in fact I remember exactly the place where I was standing and when he spoke to me. I find it amazing how God speaks sometimes, through all sorts of ways, through that still small voice, but somehow he gets our attention. On this particular day I was volunteering in a Christian CafĂ© in central London and I felt the voice of the Holy Spirit speak and he said to me, “build a website”, and I did or I at least had it built for me.
Maybe God has spoken to you about something that you need to do that you just find the task far too daunting. I have good news for you, if it is from God it will bring good things to you as God promises to bring good things to his children. I know that in the past I have had jobs that I know I have to do them, but I just keep putting them off, I don’t know why, but I do and it’s like having a huge weight on your shoulders and yet when we get the job finished is like our shoulders are lifted high! Unfortunately, in the past I had the feeling of my shoulders being weighed down, it is such a relief when you take that load off your shoulders and just think why didn’t I do this in the first place, this is a huge weight off my chest!
The Bible makes it very clear that we are created to work hard and make a difference in this world. I think many of us have thought, I wish I could just win the lottery or maybe someone will leave me some money, but this is not God’s way of doing things. And yes, someone may leave you some money and that’s fine, but God certainly doesn’t expect us to gain money through gambling or the lottery, that is not his way. I once heard a minister speaking and he was talking about the lottery and how people have said to him that someone has to win the lottery! His reply was that there are also many losers literally probably millions of users on the lottery day, I have never forgotten this and I know that this is far from God’s best.
Colossians 3:23 tells us a Christian should “work with all their heart as working for the Lord”. Our work is probably one of the greatest testimonies of our faith, non-Christians always watch how Christians work!
Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
So if God has told you to do something, I believe that the time is now to start! Dreaming and thinking about doing something new will not produce anything, but action and perseverance will make things happen. When we are in God’s plan I believe that he can make all work very satisfying, I often listen to messages when I’m working sometimes I will listen to worship or a talking Christian book. We are privileged today with the technology that is available to us, especially with smart phones, we have everything available at our fingertips.
I pray today that you take action after reading this Christian devotional, you seek first the kingdom of God and you go out there with the zest and joy and faith and magnify the name of Jesus.
Remember that all things are possible for those who believe.
A prayer
Father God help me to seek first the kingdom of God and all its righteousness and to love people and to work hard at what you have instructed me to do. I know that you are with me every step of the way as the Holy Spirit is my guide and as I work I will listen for your voice to guide me every step of the way. I will take pride in my work and I will work with joy and I will praise the name of Jesus throughout the day. Amen.
