Old websites still make money!
I have a number of websites which I have built up over the years, some of these websites are several years old. I had my first moneymaking website created by a professional Webmaster back in 2007. This particular website has been totally rebuilt over the years due to a difficult Webmaster! Over the years I have added a lot of content and products to sell, however for the past 30 months I haven’t added a single product or blog post, in fact I have actually done nothing to this particular website!
There are several reasons why I haven’t added any blog posts etc on this particular website, but the main reason being that time focusing on a couple of new websites that I have and I also have a successful off-line business that keeps me fairly occupied. However, long-term I will probably sell my off-line business and focus totally on the online world, but for the time being I will make the most of my off-line business as I really enjoy it!
The great thing is about building websites is that once you have content on your website you have a very good chance of being found in Google. I’m often amazed how quickly I can be found on page 1 of Google for a particular product, however, I appreciate this does depend on your particular niche and how large the competition is.
Once you have content on a website you can then start to monetise your website with affiliate links and possibly Google AdSense or something similar. The great thing about marketing affiliate products is that you have no physical handling or money exchanging hands, you just have to drive people to your website and you will be paid a commission if you make a sale. Just today I logged into one of my affiliate accounts and I was pleasantly surprised that just this week I have made three figures for absolutely no work whatsoever, or certainly not in the last two years, on one of my websites! I find it amazing that we can have a website that we literally add content and then forget it and still make money, fantastic! I’m not suggesting that you build a website and then just leave it, because the idea of having a website is that you add content on a very regular basis, which is a great way of being found in Google, Google loves new content.
The reason I am telling you this is that maybe you are new to working online and Internet marketing and you’re finding it all a bit daunting, the good thing is that it is possible to make money online, you just need to do it in the right way.
I started researching Internet marketing back in 2004 and it took me three years to get my first moneymaking website up and running! However, the first day website went live, I made a sale and earned a commission.
The biggest problems I had in the early days was that I was working blind and I didn’t know anything about making money online, I purchased many products that didn’t do what they said on the package, it’s a very difficult learning curve when you don’t have a teacher to tell you what is right and wrong.
