Are you in tune with God?
Are you in tune with God? I hope you are, sometimes it’s too easy to go our own way and not here the voice of God.
John 5:19 tells us; 19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
We need Jesus
We are all created in the image of God and we all need a saviour, the one that came to freedom and life in abundance. Do you know what God’s will is for your life or are you just going through life with no plan or no goals? John 10:10 tells us that Jesus came to bring life and life in abundance, the thief came to steal. I know that I want to choose life, I know that life throws things at us that we don’t always want, but it’s wonderful to know that God is bigger and can move the largest mountain.
Being in tune with God means that you have direction in your life, a plan for the future, I can’t think of anything worse than just walking blindly through life, this is far from God’s best.
So what is the plan?
I normally start my day by making coffee and at this time of year making the fire up, it is particularly cold as I write this devotional! I then turn to the word, often this can be in the form of devotionals, I’ve always enjoyed reading devotionals, but I do make sure that they are from spirit-filled men and women of God, as I only want to take my counsel from strong people of God and people who are full of the Holy Spirit. I also like to choose a passage from the Bible, sometimes this can be something random or sometimes I will follow a plan. Sometimes I will just listen to the Bible in audio form as I work, I appreciate that this isn’t quite the same as sitting down quietly and reading the word, the same time I feel modern technologies have given us the ability to hear the word wherever we are.
I was reading something from the late Billy Graham the other day and he was talking about finding a place in your home and a regular time when you can be quiet and come for God and pray and hear the voice of God, this is so important. I also heard Billy Graham say that when you come into the word you pray it is impossible to stay the same, the work transforms us, it brings joy, it brings health and woman really believe in the word of God there is so much power.
I promise you that if you take the steps to read the word of God, to pray and to listen to the voice of God you will be transformed. Many of us are too busy doing their own thing rather than spending time in the presence of God, I challenge you to have a firm plan to read the word daily at sea what happens.
Are you in tune with the King of Kings?
As I mentioned earlier, I read many different devotionals from various spirit filled authors, I don’t think I have any particular favourites as all these great men and women of God have something to offer. One of the authors that I regularly read from is Smith Wigglesworth, he was a humble Yorkshireman and a plumber by trade, he gave up his plumbing business to share the gospel with the lost.
Smith Wigglesworth was a man of great faith, he believed God for the absolute impossible! I see too many Christians today doubting the word of God, one of Smith’s sayings was, “if God’s word says it, that settles it”! I always say that I have a simple faith, but a strong faith, I do not know everything in the Bible, I struggle to quote Scripture at times, but I do believe that I have seen the miraculous! I used to be an atheist, but God had a plan for my life, I now say 2 people that I have seen too much not to believe, I want to encourage you to stay in tune and believe what the Holy Bible says, whatever your situation.
We all have a choice
Jesus was perfectly in tune with his heavenly Father as John 5:30 tells us.
I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
I believe that we need to die to ourselves and seek our heavenly father, not our will, but his will. In doing this we will release ourselves from our own will and live in the freedom of God! I have been on both sides of the water, in other words, there was a time when I was not living my life to Jesus, but living for self, I can assure you this does not work and it does not bring true joy and happiness. Only seeking first the kingdom of God can bring true everlasting joy. I think all this go through trials, but many of us lose our joy in our trials, but the word does not say this, we need to remain positive, stand on the prices of God and be expectant. If every time you have a trial and we lose our joy, we will spend the majority of our life feeling sad and downcast, I know full well that we can often sort out one trial and another one quickly follows, this is why it is important to stay in tune with God and make a choice to be joyful.
Stay in tune with God and keep the joy!
I cannot emphasise the importance of staying in tune with God and keeping your joy! I have heard Todd White say “wouldn’t it be great if Christians believe that the Christian life was a supernatural life”! This is so true, the Christian life should be the supernatural life, we should be moving mountains, people should see something different on us, I’m thankful that we believe in the God is impossible, the God of the breakthrough!
So are you going to stay in tune with God and keep the joy, I promise that if you do this, you will not regret it.
