Today, I want to talk about why your website should be your priority, not social media. A couple of weeks ago, I created this video titled “Beware of Facebook.” Now, please don’t get me wrong, social media can be useful, but we need to be careful not to rely on social media.
The reason my title is “Why Your Website Should Be Your Priority” is due to the fact that social media can take you down at any time. So, let me have a look at this. I have this website here, Garden Equipment Review, which is my own website. I also have a Facebook page for this website, which you can see here, Garden Equipment Review.
You Can See My Video Below About Why Your Website Should Be Your Priority – Not Social Media
Facebook Account Disabled
However, I can’t get to it now because here, this is my account: “Your account has been disabled. If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit our frequently answered questions page here,” which will take you around in circles, and you will get nowhere. If anyone knows how to get an account back, please let me know. However, I have a couple of Facebook pages on this account, which were active. I didn’t use them a lot, but they were alive and they have followers. This one has 2K likes and 2K followers.
Facebook Pages May Not Be What You Think
The fact is that Facebook, having all these likes, may sound good, and I know lots of people have millions of likes and millions of followers, but it may not necessarily give you traffic. I remember hearing a story about someone who had 3/4 of a million Facebook likes and they were spending 25% of their time on Facebook. When they looked at their Google Analytics, they discovered that Facebook was barely sending them any traffic. So, they carried on posting to Facebook but didn’t get into conversations with people trying to answer questions because it’s just too time-consuming, as Facebook wasn’t sending traffic.
They were able to spend that 25% of the time that they were spending on Facebook on their website, which turned out to be far more productive than using Facebook. It almost seems that some of these social media platforms give you a sense that they are sending you traffic, but they are not.
Why Your Website Should Be Your Priority
This is why it’s important to prioritize your website. A website is somewhere where you can edit your content at any time; it’s like your online brochure or shop window. I have owned several offline businesses, and I used to have to promote them through flyers, shop windows, newspaper advertising, magazine advertising, etc.; I never knew if they’d be successful or not.
But with a website, you can edit the content, add content, change how it looks, and do all sorts of things. It’s your shop window, and it also gives trust. Sometimes, I’ve said to people, “Have you got a website that I can look at?” and they say, “Well, I got an Instagram page or a Facebook page.” But to me, everyone should have a website if they have a business because it is like your online brochure, and you can promote your brand clearly.
A Website Is Far Better Than A Brochure
We know with the old-fashioned flyers or brochures, once they had gone to print, that was it. You could not change them; the print was final, and that was exactly how they would look. However, with a WordPress website, we can change the theme, we can change the design, we can change how the page looks. It’s so much better than the old-fashioned way!
Let me give you another example. Another offline business that I started in 2016, I was able to get the business earning reasonable money very quickly, within five or six months. I believe, if I remember rightly, due to the fact that I have a website and am able to market it. I could post content which would be found naturally in Google. In other words, for no cost. And, of course, if it’s your own website, they can’t take you down in normal terms.
I don’t know why the account’s disabled because I hardly use Facebook, and I don’t think garden equipment is going to be offensive, at least I never thought it was. So, this is a genuine reason why you need to be careful, and you need to have a website and prioritize your website rather than social media.
A Classic Example Of How Social Media Restricts You
Let me show you this post here from a man I follow on telegram; you can see what he has written here, “Insanity from Meta as an Instagram user is told by a customer service rep her account is being throttled due to her support of the Israeli kidnapped hostages.” This explains a lot about my Instagram account lately, as it’s been throttled. It’s quite a long video; I haven’t even seen it all. But you can see that someone supporting something they have a passion for, I know this is political, but it’s also about life. We are fortunate that, in normal terms, our websites can be on any subject within reason.
This is someone really putting up their genuine concern for someone’s life and yet Instagram wants to take them down. To me, this just doesn’t seem right, as we should have free speech within reason. Once again, we can write what we want to on our website.
YouTube
I have a YouTube channel, which is a news-type/stroke Christian Channel, and I know full well that YouTube doesn’t particularly like some of the things I put on there, and it probably holds the channel back. However, if we have a website, they can’t really do anything. Maybe they won’t show us as much as we’d like, but at least we can’t be taken down, or not in normal terms. I have had one video removed so far on YouTube, I have three channels, the video that was removed was in my news/Christian Channel.
So, the message to you is to make your website your priority and use social media, but I would certainly wouldn’t prioritize social media. Your website, like this website here, should be your prime place where you write about garden equipment, forestry equipment, or whatever your niche may be etc., rather than any other social media platform.
A Website Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive
Now, if you’re thinking about having a website and you’re thinking it’s expensive, I’m on a platform here called Wealthy Affiliate. I’m not going to go into much detail as I have other videos about the platform. However, it does have a website builder on there, and I’ve built several websites using this particular method.
You have free hosting, which is a nice bonus, blazing speed, cutting-edge security, real-time data backup, search engine optimization, 30-second setup. (I have a YouTube video on the subject; it takes 30 seconds to get your website up). There is instant domain availability, although I purchased my domains from here. So, you can literally put a website up in 30 seconds. Obviously, you’ve got to add content to it, but it’s not as difficult as you might think. I’ll leave you a link to this page, and you can have a look.
To Conclude
But the main reason for this video is to prioritize your website. Don’t be like me, and no, I wasn’t prioritizing Facebook at all because I knew a long time ago that at any time. Social media can shut you down for absolutely no reason, and this happens to many people, even people with a million followers; they can be shut down overnight. So be careful and take care. If you’ve got any questions on the subject, I’m here to help. Thank you very much for watching.

Today, in my video, I want to show you how to change a page to a post in WordPress – and vice versa. I think we’ve all done this; we’ve written a post or a page, and we have meant to put it, perhaps, as a post, but we put it in as a page. I generally write posts rather than pages, but occasionally, for some reason, I’ve just written it as a page. You can see my previous blog post about Google’s core update here.
Now, there are two ways of doing this. There’s one way that looks quite good, but the way I normally do change a post to a page or vice versa, which I think is probably the easiest way, I will show you in a minute. So, if we go to our plugins page here, and here you can see that I have typed in “post type switcher,” which you can see has come up here. Basically, I’m in plugins and I’ve gone to add a new plugin and then typed in “post type switcher.” And then, if we click here, it gives us some more information —I always like to look at the ratings.
You Can See The Video below On How To Change A Page To A Post In WordPress – And Vice Versa
Use A Plugin
There are two things I look at: ratings and to check that the plugin has been updated recently. Also, it’s important to make sure that it is compatible with your version of WordPress. Now, there are 13 one-star reviews but there are 215 good reviews, so nothing in between, funny enough, which sounds good.
And here, it looks very simple. You’ve got a drop-down menu, and you can just simply switch it over. I must admit, I try to avoid having too many plugins, but this certainly looks like a good way to to change a page to a post. However, let’s come back to the way that would normally change a page to a post.
Copy And Paste In Text Mode
So, let’s have a look at this post here. Take this post here, “Why Your Website Should Be Your Priority, Not Social Media.” So, I am in edit mode here, so I’m in “posts,” “all posts,” I’m in this post here. So, I’m going to go to—at the moment, we’re in visual, but I’m going to go to text, and then I’m going to put the mouse here, going to highlight it, and then I’m going to copy.
Now, let’s open a new, in fact, no, let’s go now to get a page and let’s go to “add new page,” going to paste, and I won’t worry about the title, and then we’re going to go visual, which shows us how the page will look, and then we literally just press publish. Now, I don’t need to publish the page because I’m not going to use this page. But you’ve got everything there, and that seems to work quite well. You have to do it in text mode to change it, copy the text, and then that’ll copy everything over.
To Conclude
I like to try to keep my plugins to a minimum, so the way that I have shown you seems to be a simple and effective way to change from a page to a post or vice versa. Of course, you can always disable the plugin once you have carried out what is necessary. However, copying the page in text format seems to work absolutely fine for me. I have always enjoyed learning new tips and tricks online. One of the places that I recommend for up-to-date training online is a membership site that I am part of. In this video, I want to talk about why AI content websites are being de-indexed after the Google Core update. I have always been very dubious about AI; however, I have learned that it can be a helper if used properly. However, one of the problems that I expected to see was that people would use artificial intelligence to spin out content really quickly. This is exactly what is happening. You can see my previous blog post about why your website should be your priority – not social media!
One of the good things with Google is that they want you to do things properly; there are no shortcuts. Overall, I believe that this has to be a good thing as it stops people cheating the system and helps people to create genuine and helpful content.
Google is cracking down on AI generated content and rightly so in my humble opinion! For example, the website, FreshersLive recently received 10 million views in a week, but now it has been totally de-indexed. In other words, it’s not searchable on the web.
You Can See My YouTube Video about AI Content Websites Being De-Indexed below.
Make Sure Your Website Doesn’t Get De-Indexed
Now, I haven’t looked at any of these posts. I don’t even know what Freshers Live is, as such. But they’re still writing posts. It obviously has Google AdSense on there, and they were making money from advertising and what have you, but now it’s not being found in Google. It’s just totally been de-indexed.
And this is a reminder to even if you’re a small website, like many of us do, we need to be careful how we’re using AI. We need to use it properly or otherwise stand the risk of having our website de-indexed.
This Is What AI Content Looks like
Now, let me show you what AI content is like. This member, he wrote a very good article. He’s been here a similar time to what I’ve been, and the title of his article was “Ten Lessons I’ve Learned Over 10 Years Here at Wealthy Affiliate.” Brilliant article. I read it. I read the whole lot. And I replied four weeks ago. So you can see, I’ve given a detailed reply because if I’m going to reply to something and get into a conversation, I want to give a proper and solid answer. I don’t want to, you know, he’s taken the time to write this blog post, I’m going to reply appropriately. So it’s quite a long reply. But then, unfortunately, and this is where AI is not so clever. Here is part of the reply.
“Well, your comment is like a breath of fresh air, packed with insights and reflections that really hit home. It’s like we’re having a coffee chat, sharing stories and lessons from the trenches of online entrepreneurship. Thank you for taking the time to dive deep…”
I’m only going to read that paragraph, but it’s all very wordy. The reply has no depth whatsoever, and it is not at all personal.
This is just a classic AI reply, which really doesn’t give a genuine experience.
Something that’s made the Wealthy Affiliate platform great is the genuine experience people have. Now, this chap is talking about his genuine experience here, which is brilliant, it’s great. He’s talking about what’s actually happened. But it is disappointing when people give this sort of reply to other members comments.
Write Genuine Content
Now, the reason I’m showing you this is because this is what people are doing in blog posts. They’re just writing a load of drivel and waffle, and Google’s clamping down on it. So be careful. I have also followed Google, the Google Search Central, on Twitter, and I clicked on that post, and it tells you here about how Google views AI content in terms of spam. It said it’s clamping down, and this new policy is meant to help people focus more clearly on the idea of producing content that abuses, if it is done for the purpose of manipulating search rankings, and this applies whether automation or humans are involved. And this is what so many people are doing.
I’m seeing it right on this platform here, where I am m a member, where people are saying how many blog posts they have written. But have you really written it? Is it really you? Is it your genuine experience? If not, it’s time to stop because your content may go like Freshers Live’s content has gone. And so all your time will be wasted if you can’t be found in Google. Very few people are going to find you.
To Conclude
As many of us know, it’s important to populate our websites with content. However, it’s important to make sure what we are writing is correct and genuine. Readers will quickly recognise if you’re content is not truthful or real. In general, I can very quickly pick up AI content, as I know the type of style that AI likes to write in.
I believe we all want to read genuine content, not just fluff and drivel. Keep your content genuine and real and then you know you have nothing to worry about. I appreciate that there are occasions when Google does get things wrong; sometimes, we just have to hang in there and wait. Google has many updates, but in general, these updates seem to correct themselves after a period of time.
Today, the title of my video and blog post reads, “Beware of Facebook!” Just before I start, you may be interested in my previous video, which is entitled How to Fix Slow Uploads in Camtasia.
Now, there is a reason for this. I know many of us use Facebook, and here I have a post from Jeff Brown. He belongs to a membership website that I also belong to, and he’s written a post about “How to Start a Facebook Business Page.” There is nothing wrong with that. Jeff takes you through the stages of how to create a Facebook business page from start to finish.
You Can See My Video On The Subject Of “Beware Of Facebook” Below.
However, I want to remind you that the most important tool for any internet marketer or anyone trying to make a living online is your website. You need to prioritize that! Please don’t get me wrong, social media can be very helpful and potentially powerful. I know of many people who have had huge success with social media, but your main platform needs to be your website, due to the fact that at any time, platforms like Facebook can take you down for no apparent reason.
Facebook Account Disabled
Now, let me give you an example of this. Here is my Facebook account, or one of them. A couple of months ago, I went to look at something on Facebook, and I was asked to log in. I hadn’t actually logged out. However, I went to log in and received this message; “Your account has been disabled”. If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit our Frequently Asked Questions page here,” which just takes you around in circles.
Now, I don’t use Facebook much, as I must admit I am not a great fan of Facebook. It is rather clunky and cumbersome, and I don’t agree with a lot of their principles. I also believe that social media should allow you to post what you want to post, otherwise what’s the point? Surely that is the whole idea of social media: to get our point of view across to other people in the world.
Facebook Business Pages
So here, I have a Facebook page, which is still up and running. I haven’t posted on my Facebook business page lately. However, it’s still up and running, yet I can’t get to it to post any content. So basically, I can’t use the Facebook page anymore as I cannot log in to my account, so if I can’t log in, I can’t post content!
So beware, I have heard of many people who have been banned from Facebook for no apparent reason. When when I carried out some research about the issue, Facebook says, “Look at the terms and conditions.” I can’t even see anything in the terms and conditions that has gone against the Facebook narrative.
The fact is, I don’t even use this personal profile to publish any content. And I don’t believe that talking about garden equipment can be that offensive, and yet here’s the account disabled. So, beware of social media pages, especially Facebook.
Don’t Spend Too Much Time On Facebook Business Pages
If you’re building a Facebook page, like Jeff here has honestly said, let me show you the comment I left this morning. I put just a few words regarding Facebook pages. I went on to say that how powerful Facebook pages were when they first came out. They were brilliant. So, for example, take this Facebook page, “Garden Equipment.” People know that you are talking about garden equipment, so you could comment on other people’s pages, etc., and they know what your business is. And for a year or so, they really were quite powerful, but it’s not the same now. When Facebook pay-per-click advertising came out, things changed a bit, so they actually said they were not going to show Facebook pages as much. In fact, they said that they would not show Facebook pages very often.
Is Facebook Sending You Traffic?
And then I also went on to say down here about how I knew of someone who had a Facebook page with three-quarters of a million followers. Where he spent 25% of his time on his Facebook page. The rest of the time which was the remaining 75% went on his website, which is great, and 25% of the other time on Facebook. He was responding to comments and questions, so it was quite time-consuming.
He was shocked when he went to his Google Analytics, as he discovered that Facebook was literally sending him zero traffic to his website. So, he thought, okay, well, this is a waste of time. So, he still posted to Facebook, but he didn’t really get involved in conversation. And yet it made no difference to when he stopped using Facebook. It made no difference to his website or his profits, etc.
So, this is just proof that you do have to be careful. We have to remind ourselves that these platforms, and not only Facebook, probably all of them can ban you at any time. I have heard of people with YouTube accounts banned, phage ones, just disappearing overnight! You could have a huge channel and it just disappears.
Instagram
So, make your website your priority. And just one more thing before I go I had an email sent me as I needed to log into Instagram, which I don’t use a lot. Maybe I should be using it more. However, I only have an account because sometimes people send me things to look at on Instagram, so I really need to be logged in.
The email read, “We noticed a new login from a device that you don’t usually use. If it was you, which it was, you won’t be able to access certain security and account settings for a few days. You can still access these settings from a device you’ve logged in in the past.”
I’m using my PC to record this video, and this is where I would normally access Instagram from. It’s amazing that they are telling me that I’ve logged in from a different device. This is where I always log in from, and now I have restricted access. To be fair, it doesn’t affect me because I don’t really use Instagram. I only really use it to see other people’s content occasionally if someone sends me something on Instagram, as someone did this morning. Hence why I had to log in because I’d been logged out.
To Conclude
As I’m sure you know, Instagram is part of Facebook. So there, again, this is totally beyond my control. Fortunately, it doesn’t affect me, but it could do, so you can see how fragile the platform is. So, my words to you are to focus on your website. Make your website a priority.
By all means, use social media, but focus on your website. You own your website, which should be the platform that you prioritise, where you can write what you want to and not be banned.
If you have any comments on this, please feel free to comment. I’m here to help and answer any questions. Thanks very much for watching.
In this blog post, I would like to talk about building a passive income stream with affiliate marketing. My last blog post was talking about training platforms; you can see the post and the embedded video here. People often ask me when I’m working my off-line business if I do anything else. When I tell them that I work online, the majority of people are quite curious. The next question I am normally asked, is what you do online and how do you make money! So, my answer is affiliate marketing!
The majority of people do not know what affiliate marketing is and I do understand why. When I first started out researching Internet marketing back in 2004, I hadn’t a clue what affiliate marketing was. However, I quickly learned and dug down deeper to find out more.
In the next few paragraphs, I will tell you more about building a passive income stream with affiliate marketing. You can see my video on building a passive income stream with affiliate marketing below.
Maybe you are curious about affiliate marketing, or perhaps you don’t even know what affiliate marketing is. Anyway, you have picked an opportune moment to learn more about the subject. At its core, affiliate marketing is a performance-based system where businesses reward individuals or ‘affiliates’ for visitors or customers brought about by the affiliates’ promotional efforts. The draw of passive income is strong and understandably so. It promises financial gains without being bound down by a nine-to-five job, which is a good plus point!
You Do Have To Work
In this digital era or world, it’s more attainable than ever, but you do have to work. Working online is no different to any other business. There seems to be a bit of a myth that an online business can make you rich overnight; I’m afraid that’s not true! I’ve watched people from various backgrounds harness the power of affiliate marketing to boost their income with great success. However, that doesn’t happen overnight; you build up your online business over time.
What’s notable is that people from all different sorts of backgrounds are creating these success stories. Take, for instance, a stay-at-home parent who turned a parenting blog into a source of income, or a fitness enthusiast who earned commission by reviewing workout gear. I have also known of a few truck drivers who have started their affiliate marketing business from there truck! Instead of spending time watching mindless television, they have put their spare time and their overnight stops to good use by creating an affiliate business. Their ventures are unique, yet they all share the common foundation of a solid affiliate marketing strategy.
I also know of a lady who decided to homeschool her children during lockdowns. She then created a course online and sold the product through affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a cog in the larger machinery of passive income models. With the right approach, it stands as a testament to the income-generating prowess of digital marketing in today’s economy. It’s actually a great way for manufacturers to promote their products by creating an affiliate program. It’s almost like they are passing their marketing onto affiliate marketers to do the job, it appears to work well!
Setting Up for Success – Creating Your Affiliate Marketing Strategy
I must admit that the early part of my affiliate marketing journey wasn’t easy. The fact was that I could see the power of the Internet and the huge potential that it offered, but I genuinely didn’t know what I had to do to get there. I spent a lot of time scanning the Internet to find out more about affiliate marketing. There is a terrific amount of information out there, however, the biggest issue I had was knowing if the information was genuine or just someone trying to take my hard earned money!
It actually took me three years to get my first proper affiliate marketing website up and running. However, I was also running another full-time business, so time was rather limited. I learned the hard way, but thankfully, I have since found some up-to-date training platforms that teach you the right way to build an online business.
I always say to people who want to build an online business, make sure you get trained properly and listen to the right people. I guess that’s why I have been a member of the Wealthy Affiliate platform for over nine years. You can see my profile here to find out more about the platform.
Make Sure You Have A Plan Of Action
I quickly learned that success doesn’t happen by chance; it requires a well-thought-out plan. Here, I share the cornerstone principles that every new affiliate marketer should consider.
I wanted my efforts to be fruitful, so choosing the right niche was my starting point. To find mine, I combined what I was passionate about with areas that also had a strong market demand. I recommend investing time in research to understand your chosen niche thoroughly. At the same time, don’t deliberately try and look for where you think the money is, go to where your passion is.
The great thing is in this day and age, there is almost an affiliate program for every single product in the world! So if your passion is sport, keeping fit, model railways, fast cars etc, there is normally an affiliate program to suit your niche.
With a niche in place, I scanned the Internet reputable affiliate programs. Not all programs are created equal; many have different commission rates, so it’s important to check the rates before you sign up. It’s important to align with trustworthy and well-established providers is crucial. I suggest looking for programs with favourable commission structures, reliable payment setups, and a solid reputation. You can cross-reference companies on the Internet and look at reviews that other affiliate marketers have provided.
Consistently Write Content
Content is where you can genuinely shine and provide value to your audience. It must offer solutions and answers that people are looking for. My strategy involves targeting lots of different products to help draw in users. I also stay up to date on SEO trends to ensure my content ranks well and attracts organic traffic. I’ve established a digital presence that’s akin to a virtual home for my affiliate endeavours. This includes a user-friendly website, social media profiles, and an email list to communicate with my audience directly. I try to be consistent with my posting schedule to keep my audience involved and informed. I must admit that can sometimes be easier said than done, but it’s important to try and be as consistent as possible.
Just coming back to social media, it’s good to have a social media presence. But we have to remember that our website is the prime place where we want to focus most of our attention. Social media sites can have too many rules and regulations. I have also heard of far too many people being banned from social media and losing all their followers overnight. The great thing is that a website belongs to you; social media doesn’t!
Growing Your Audience – Engagement And Trust Building
Trust is the cornerstone of affiliate marketing. Without it, the most strategic content can fall flat. So, how do you build trust? Through engaging content that provides value. I focus on understanding what my audience craves and then try to deliver it consistently. This isn’t about selling — it’s about serving my audience first and foremost, and that creates a loyal following.
When I create content, I make sure it’s relevant to my audience. I try to answer their questions, solve their problems, and give insights they can’t find elsewhere. I invite them to interact, whether it be through comments, forums, or social media. I find that YouTube is a good place to ask for comments. I will very often embed my YouTube videos into my website content. Engaging isn’t just about talking; it’s about listening, too. I take feedback seriously and adjust my approach accordingly. It’s a continuous cycle of learning and improving.
Be Clear!
I try to be clear to people regarding my affiliate marketing websites. I am clear about any affiliate links I include. I explain why I endorse a product and ensure I’ve tested it personally. I believe honesty builds trust — and trust leads to better conversion rates. In fact, sharing both the pros and cons of products has gained me more trust from my community.
I also highlight real testimonials and user experiences. I don’t just say a product is excellent; I show it through real-world stories and reviews. Utilizing social proof like this reinforces that what I’m offering will truly benefit my audience. I think most of us have different skills in different areas; affiliate marketing allows us to share our knowledge and expertise in particular niches.
Integrity also plays a role in content creation. I avoid overstating the benefits of a product and focus on being accurate and honest in my content. My aim is not just to make a sale but to provide something that meets a need or solves a real problem for someone. When I purchase a product, I like people to be honest with me rather than exaggerating about what something can or can’t do. I try and do the same when I’m reviewing or talking about a particular product, I want to be honest about what I’m writing.
Optimizing and Monetizing – Affiliate Marketing Best Practices
Now that you’ve established a solid foundation and begun to build your audience, it’s crucial to focus on maximizing your affiliate marketing income. The process involves careful optimization and consistent refinement of your strategies.
Firstly, for many people, getting the SEO aspect right is non-negotiable. However, I tend to disagree, as SEO changes a lot; it’s one of those things that is beyond our control. I have found one of the best ways to get ranked is to write genuinely and to share our knowledge without exaggerating anything. I believe by doing the above our content can be found easily, and for that, it needs to rank well on search engines.
Please don’t get me wrong; despite what I said in my previous paragraph, it’s good to learn about keywords, meta descriptions, and how to create SEO-friendly content that aligns with user search intent. Just don’t get too hung up on the process; otherwise, it can hold you back. Every time we write a post, we are learning, and by putting our efforts into practice, we can improve considerably over time.
Conversion optimization should be next on your list. You need to make sure that the traffic to your site has the highest chance of converting into sales. This means strategically placing affiliate links, using compelling calls to action, and potentially utilizing landing pages to guide the user’s journey.
Analyse Your Results
Equally important is the art of analysing your results, I know this is something that a lot of people don’t like! However, using analytics tools to track your performance, understand what works and what doesn’t, and make data-driven decisions to increase your earnings. It may be hard, but it does pay off in the long run. The great thing is that there are many free tools available to help you track your website. Tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console give very important information.
Two Conclude
Lastly, the online world never stops moving, and neither should you. Stay informed about the latest trends in affiliate marketing, experiment with new tools, and be ready to pivot your strategy to keep up with the industry. With these best practices, you’re well on your way to a successful and long-term passive income stream through affiliate marketing. One of the ways I stay up-to-date with the latest affiliate marketing information is by being on a platform with like-minded people. You can find out more here.
Maybe you have read this blog post and you find it rather daunting. My advice to people is to get trained up properly, in the early years, I wasn’t trained, I was just doing a lot of guesswork, which is not good and costly. This is why always recommend the Wealthy Affiliate platform as it takes you through the whole training process. I guess as I have been on the platform since 2014, I can recommend the platform, as I know it works. I also know that the training is first class and it’s continually being updated.

It’s quite a long time since I created a review, so here is my long-term verdict: Wealthy Affiliate after nine years. It’s hard to believe that I have been on the Wealthy Affiliate platform for over nine years now! I have been a member of the Wealthy Affiliate platform since 2014; you can see my profile here. You can find You can see my video review here or read the web version below.
I Learned The Hard Way!
I started looking at ways to make money online 20 years ago, as I could see the massive and huge potential of the power of the Internet. My eyes were really opened when I had my first broadband connection; broadband really changed the face of the Internet. The old-fashioned dial-up Internet was just so frustrating and painful to use; I’m very thankful that things have changed massively in that department!
My problem was that I could see the power of the Internet, but I really didn’t know what to do or what direction to go in. I had no real direction of where to start and how I could make money online. However, I was very eager to make this happen. I ended up purchasing many different products, hoping that they would give me the answer to my dreams. Unfortunately, there are so many scam products out there that don’t really tell you the truth. There may be an element of truth in the product, but it doesn’t give you the full picture.
Learn From Others
This is where platforms like Wealthy Affiliate make life so much easier. If Wealthy Affiliate had been available when I first started out online, it would have saved me thousands of pounds and I literally mean that! I spent a terrific amount of money on unnecessary products, just trying to learn how to make money online.
The great news is that Wealthy Affiliate is a genuine training platform which teaches you the correct way to make money online and how to build an online business. The boffins say that one of the best things we can do is invest in our education, I very much agree with that. We are very fortunate in this day and age to be able to have training videos, it’s just not reading from an out-of-date textbook! The training videos can be updated at any time, whereas a textbook can quickly become out of date.
The Wealthy Affiliate Platform Has Moved With The Times
If I set out to explore the realm of online entrepreneurship this year, Wealthy Affiliate would very likely catch my attention. For nearly two decades, this platform has stood as a beacon for individuals looking to turn the Internet into their economic playground. In 2024, as the digital world continues to morph at breakneck speed, understanding the tools and communities that can truly fuel online business success becomes crucial.
Now, you might wonder what sets Wealthy Affiliate apart in an ocean of internet marketing promises or scams. It’s so nice to have a platform that is upfront and gives you genuine real, honest and up-to-date training. I intend to shed light on its unique approach that has kept it relevant and admired over the years. As we go through this review together, you will uncover how Wealthy Affiliate has refined the art of building online businesses on a platform that is supportive, exceptionally friendly, helpful and tuned to the ever-changing dynamics of online marketing.
This exploration will not stop at broad outlines. I aim to drill down into the components that make Wealthy Affiliate a noteworthy contender in the market – from its origins, trust ratings, and membership offerings to exclusive features and the balance between its advantages and limitations. Stay with me as I unfold what you can really expect from Wealthy Affiliate in 2024 and, ultimately, whether it aligns with your digital aspirations and thoughts of having your own online business.
The Story Behind Wealthy Affiliate: From 2005 To Present
When you grasp the context in which the platform was founded, you gain insight into its purpose and ethos. Wealthy Affiliate began as a vision shared by two entrepreneurs, Kyle Loudoun and Carson Lim, back in 2005. Their mission was clear; they wanted to create a space that would democratize the process of succeeding online for every level of internet entrepreneur, from novices to seasoned pros. I guess I arrived at Wealthy Affiliate as someone who was making money online and yet wanted to keep up-to-date and learn more about the online world!
In the years that followed, Wealthy Affiliate has navigated the ever-shifting tides of the Internet, adapting its services and expanding its offerings. It transformed into a full-blown educational platform from a modest membership site, combining instructional material with practical tools designed for taking action. Its scalability has allowed users to grow from simple niche websites to full-fledged online businesses. There are so many wonderful success stories on the platform. It’s always a pleasure to hear about people who have made it happen!
Wealthy Affiliate’s historical roadmap is more than just timelines and feature rollouts; it’s about the really friendly community it has cultivated. I write on many different platforms, but the Wealthy Affiliate community is by far the most friendly! The platform’s commitment to genuine mentorship and peer support has spawned a vibrant online community. This fellowship or community spirit, is the backbone of Wealthy Affiliate, providing not just collaboration but also accountability, which is often the catalyst for success in the online world.
It’s Tough Out There On Your Own
One of the things that I struggled with when I first started working online and researching the subject of Internet marketing, was the fact that I didn’t have anyone to answer any of my questions or anyone to interact with. Even to this day, I don’t talk much about my online business, as I know the majority of people do not understand how it works. Going back 20 years, if you talked about making money online, people just thought you were some sort of scammer!
As we transition to a detailed look at the platform’s inner workings in the next section, keep in mind that Wealthy Affiliate’s history isn’t just about its past. It sets the stage for the future, always being one step ahead of the game. With enhancements and innovations crafted to meet the needs of today’s affiliate marketers and internet entrepreneurs.
Inside Wealthy Affiliate: A Comprehensive Platform Analysis
Imagine a platform that promises to introduce you to the world of affiliate marketing and guide you through each step of building a profitable online business. Wealthy Affiliate does precisely this with a system it has polished over the years. 2024 sees Wealthy Affiliate offering a robust platform for both beginners and seasoned marketers, using innovative strategies to develop their online presence. Even in the nine-plus years that I have been on the Wealthy Affiliate platform, I have seen some amazing changes.
I think what amazes me more is that from the first day I joined the platform, it worked. I was more than happy with the platform’s functionality and everything it offered. However, the owners are continually looking at ways to improve the platform and to stay ahead of the game. It’s fascinating to watch and to see what new enhancements will be coming next!
The core of Wealthy Affiliate’s approach decomposes business development into four manageable segments: selecting a profitable niche, website building, content creation, and monetization. This systematic approach demystifies the process of establishing an online business and empowers users to take actionable steps toward their entrepreneurial goals.
Hosting
Among the standout facilities of Wealthy Affiliate is their hosting service, which boasts a reputation for reliability. Designed to maximize uptime and bolster site performance, the service ensures that your online business is well taken care of. This foundational element resonates with new proprietors who find the backend technicalities of online business daunting.
Wealthy Affiliate has removed all the painful parts of starting an online business. Many new people would struggle to know which hosting to purchase, but Wealthy Affiliate has you covered. I still use their hosting today for some of my websites. However, I also have a dedicated server for some websites as they receive quite a bit of traffic, and I use a data feed on some of my websites, which is another story. However, the great thing is that Wealthy Affiliate has you covered to get you started and beyond regarding the hosting.
Extensive Training
Another noteworthy component is the extensive training available, including videos, tutorials, and real-time classrooms. The content is not just abundant; it’s continually updated to keep pace with the dynamic nature of the Internet. This ongoing education is critical, as it ensures members’ approaches remain relevant and effective.
There is so much training that I cannot keep up with it all! Sometimes I may even be a new training module every day, I can’t actually keep up with all the training. However, don’t let that put you off, as there is core training that takes you through the whole process of building an online business. The extra training takes you deeper and beyond that extra mile.
The platform isn’t just about individual growth; community support is at its heart. It offers an inclusive space where members can share insights, get feedback, and learn from the success and challenges of others. The vibrant and engaged community adds a layer of motivation and support that goes beyond mere business outcomes.
One of the many things I like about the Wealthy Affiliate platform is that it doesn’t feel like I am doing my job alone, even though I am. I can literally ask any question I want to the community, or I can share a success story, or something I’m struggling with, which is really fantastic! There really is a brilliant community spirit where everyone wants to help each other.
Membership Offerings: A Detailed Look At Wealthy Affiliate Tiers
If I had to pinpoint the heart of Wealthy Affiliate, I would zoom in on the membership tiers. Each tier comes with its own array of features tailored to different stages of an online entrepreneur’s journey. I’ll provide a close-up of the Starter, Premium, and Premium Plus+ memberships, comfortably navigating you through the specifics. You can see a previous blog post on the upgraded starter membership here.
The Starter Membership is where everyone kicks off their journey. It’s free and designed to give you a sneak peek into the platform’s potential. You get the fundamental training wheels with access to basic features – you start with one website and a window into the business hub. However, it’s worth noting that your toolkit will be the most basic version.
Why Upgrade?
Probably one of the most asked questions on Wealthy Affiliate is do I have to upgrade to the premium membership? The fact is that anyone who wants to start a business, whether it’s online or offline, has to be willing to invest in their business. The free starter membership of Wealthy Affiliate is basic, but it gives you enough information to show you that the platform is genuine and to see if you really like the platform.
When I first joined Wealthy Affiliate, I obviously started with the starter membership, but within a few minutes I upgraded to the premium membership. This is partly because I was experienced and knew what to look for, so I immediately saw the benefits of premium membership. However, for someone who is new to Internet marketing, the starter membership is brilliant. The reason I say this is that it gives you a great opportunity to test the platform out and see if you like or not. You don’t even have to use a credit card for the starter membership, you can upgrade at any time, there is no rush, you just upgrade when you are ready.
Premium Membership
Step up to the Premium Membership, and the training wheels come off. It’s a sizable leap from the Starter, priced at $49 per month or an annual fee of $497, which introduces a spectrum of advanced features. Here, you land 3 websites, comprehensive training, a weekly expert class, and the Jaaxy Lite research tool. The access to all AI platforms also unlocks, alongside an exclusive support system.
For many years, there were only two levels of membership at Wealthy Affiliate, the starter and the premium membership. I’m guessing that the premium plus membership was introduced around three years ago. The choice is personal for each individual, but if you’re new to Internet marketing, I would go for the cheaper premium membership. The reason for this is because there is enough information for you to become successful and it stops information overload, which has held many people back over the years.
I personally am a Premium Plus member, and it’s absolutely brilliant, but I’m just being honest and realistic. I know many people who have become highly successful just using the premium membership. Maybe there are no thrills, but the fact is, the premium membership really works well.
Premium Plus Membership
The Premium Plus+ Membership is the upper level for those looking to fully leverage the Wealthy Affiliate arsenal. At $99 monthly or $697 annually, this tier avails ten websites, up to five expert classes per week, and the coveted Jaaxy Enterprise tool. It’s not just about quantity; the quality of service and support is unparalleled.
This all-important choice of membership will reflect in the tools at your disposal, the depth of training you receive, and the scope of community interaction. What’s critical here is aligning your chosen tier with your aspirations and where you stand in your entrepreneurial adventure.
As I mentioned earlier, the premium plus membership is excellent, the extra cost is well worth the money. However, don’t feel you have to have premium plus as the premium membership still gives you everything you need, without information overload. If you think you can restrict and follow the training without jumping from class to class, then by all means take advantage of the premium plus training. But just make sure you follow the core training on the platform first.
Evaluating Success: Trust Ratings And Member Feedback
When considering any online business platform, it’s essential to evaluate its reputation through trust ratings and member feedback. These indicators give a snapshot of the platform’s reliability and effectiveness based on collective user experience.
Wealthy Affiliate has earned a great reputation with a 4.9 out of 5.0 rating on TrustPilot, a comprehensive community-driven review site. This scoring reflects the satisfaction of thousands of users who have benefited from Wealthy Affiliate’s offerings. Members consistently praise the platform for its thorough training materials, supportive community, and effective tools.
There are a few members that have given Wealthy Affiliate a very poor review on TrustPilot, but if you look at some of these members profiles, you can see why. For some reason, some people seem to fail to understand that you need to take solid action with a business, it’s the same for any business, whether it’s online or off-line. I don’t know what it is with an online business, but I think there are many people who think you get rich from signing up to a platform and doing absolutely nothing! Wealthy Affiliate is not a get rich quick scheme, it is a genuine platform that teaches you how to build an online business successfully. But we do have to take action.
Excellent Ratings
Further solidifying its credibility, Wealthy Affiliate boasts an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). This grade is indicative of the company’s commitment to customer service and its ability to resolve any issues promptly and effectively.
The combination of TrustPilot scores and an A+ BBB rating is a strong validation of Wealthy Affiliate’s success in providing a nurturing environment for affiliate marketers and online entrepreneurs. By maintaining high standards of service and support, they clearly demonstrate their priority on member success and satisfaction.
Another major fact that Wealthy Affiliate works is that I have been a member for over nine years. I would not renew my membership if I did not receive value and help them training from the platform. Not only does Wealthy Affiliate help you build an online business, it also helps you stay up-to-date with the latest technology and developments in the Internet marketing world. It’s also good to surround yourself with like-minded people, where we can help each other. We are not meant to do life alone!
Going Deeper: Wealthy Affiliate’s Standout Features
Wealthy Affiliate isn’t just another platform where you create a website and hope for the best. It provides an entire system for your online business. Understanding the key features of Wealthy Affiliate can help you decide if this is the toolset that could amplify your affiliate marketing efforts. Let’s have a look at the features in more detail.
Business Hubs
The business hubs are very new to Wealthy Affiliate, but also a great asset. The Wealthy Affiliate platform is trying to streamline the way in which we build our online business. The Business Hubs serve as your online business command centre, allowing you to manage websites, stratagems for content, and keyword research all in one spot. It’s like having a dashboard that keeps the complexities of your business neatly organized and accessible.
AI Article Designer
The AI Article Designer is a breakthrough in content creation, designed to help you churn out SEO-optimized content more efficiently. This incentive could be a game-changer for those who dread the content creation stage of site-building.
I have always had reservations about AI. However, I have watched many lessons on the Wealthy Affiliate platform on how to use AI correctly. Unfortunately, I think too many people will create an article with AI and leave it at that; the fact is, that’s the wrong way to use AI. We need to think of AI as an assistant, it can help us and it can speed up many processes and also brainstorm, which is a useful feature. However, we still need to add our human input, we need to let a uniqueness, individuality and experience shine out when we are writing articles etc.
Expert Classes
The Expert Classes offer a wealth of knowledge from industry professionals. Whether you’re just starting or you’re an experienced marketer, continued learning is crucial. These sessions can keep you abreast of the latest market trends and strategies.
As I mentioned earlier, I came to Wealthy Affiliate as someone who was already making money online. However, I want to continually learn new strategies and ideas. This is exactly where the up-to-date training is such an excellent feature. No one wants to be left behind in their industry, so it’s important to keep up-to-date with what’s going on in the online world.
Site Content
A potential pivotal tool within the platform is the SiteContent Writing Platform, designed to enhance your writing quality and content management. With this, you’re not just throwing words onto a page; you’re crafting your content with precision.
Personally, I don’t use site content, but I know many members who absolutely love the site content feature. The niches that I am in, I know fairly well, so don’t particularly feel the need for using site content. But I would definitely recommend trying it out as many people find site content extremely helpful.
Websites And Hosting
The platform boasts state-of-the-art websites and hosting services, emphasizing reliability and advance. Hosting features such as daily backups, and website encryption ensure your business is secure and running smoothly.
The hosting at Wealthy Affiliate is excellent, as I mentioned earlier, I still use it today for some websites. It really is great for starting out and it also comes with full site support, which is excellent. I’m sure that many other platforms would not provide hosting or site support.
Affiliate Programs At Your Fingertips
The Affiliate Opportunity Database opens the doors to over 10,000 affiliate programs. This feature is particularly beneficial for niche marketers searching for the right products to promote.
There are a huge amount of affiliate programs available for affiliate marketers across the world. Traditionally, I would carry out a search on Google to find an appropriate affiliate program for my niche. However, Wealthy Affiliate has many affiliate programs that members can use, which is a really useful feature. Just recently, I was searching for an affiliate program on Wealthy Affiliate and discovered a program that I didn’t know was available. I would personally use Google and Wealthy Affiliate to check for various affiliate programs.
The Wealthy Affiliate Community
The community at Wealthy Affiliate is another standout feature. With over 2 million members members on the platform, there are many members sharing their daily success stories. However, I will be honest that not all the members are active, however there are certainly many active members to learn from and to communicate with. The support and networking opportunities are wonderful, no one ever needs to feel alone. It really is a great community where people want to help each other.
Live Chat
Help is always available by either asking a question to the community, you can see that I have asked 275 questions at the time of writing. There is also live chat, which I do not use a great deal, as I find it a bit too time-consuming. However, I know that a lot of people do use it to ask questions, which can be extremely useful.
If you have a problem with your website, then you can go to “site support” and ask them a question via email on any websites that you may be having issues with. Although I haven’t needed to use site support very often, I have found that their response is fairly prompt and you will receive an answer. From the same area, you can also send private messages to individual members. You can ask a question to the community and you can also get to live chat and chat with other members on the platform.
The Wealthy Affiliate Affiliate Program
A highly rewarding aspect is the Wealthy Affiliate’s lucrative affiliate program. The incentives, including the Las Vegas Super Affiliate Conference, shine as examples of the tangible rewards that come with success on the platform.
Learn From Successful Members
Did you know that it makes a huge difference with who you hang out with. For example, it’s been said that if you hang out with alcoholics, you become one! If you hang out with millionaires, you will become a millionaire! I really believe it’s important the way we use time and who we share our time with.
The great thing is that we can learn from people who are successful. Fortunately, on the Wealthy Affiliate platform there are many members who are successful. I do appreciate that there are also many people who are beginners. However, we can learn from successful people and we can help people who are starting out or have a question. The fact is that we never stop learning and investing in learning, has to be a good investment.
One of the reasons we can learn so much from successful people, is the fact that they have been there and done that. Many members will blog about how they may be having success with YouTube or a particular social media platform or just a particular method that they are using. To me, this is very valuable as I want to learn from other people’s genuine experiences.
Each of these features alone adds value, but together, they form a robust infrastructure designed to bring success. But how do they balance out when compared with the challenges they present, especially to someone new to affiliate marketing?
Weighing The Benefits: Pros And Cons Of Joining Wealthy Affiliate
Before you make a commitment to any platform, it’s critical to weigh the pros and cons. Wealthy Affiliate isn’t different. Let’s start with what’s working in its favour. The platform offers current and comprehensive training tailored to various levels of experience, from beginners to seasoned marketers. You can find a wealth of resources – all the way from fundamental concepts to advanced strategies.
The support from a robust community is a defining aspect of Wealthy Affiliate. Newcomers can draw from the vast well of knowledge and experience held by members who’ve already walked the path they’re embarking upon. Every day, success stories are shared, encouraging and motivating members to persevere in their own journeys.
Wealthy Affiliate has a feature where you can bookmark different blog posts that various members have written. I have a bookmark section, which is entitled “Success Stories”, there are a lot of them. I also have many other bookmarked blog posts that are good to be able to refer to if I am researching something. By coming together as a community, we can share ideas and use other people’s research and ideas, which in turn, saves a terrific amount of time.
Advanced tools and hosting services simplify building and managing your online presence. With state-of-the-art hosting, a secure and robust website we can start building our website with total confidence. When it comes to affiliate incentives, Wealthy Affiliate has an attractive affiliate program, with rewards like an invitation to the Super Affiliate Conference in Las Vegas.
Although Wealthy Affiliate has its own affiliate program, it doesn’t mean that you have to promote the platform. The training can be used to promote any affiliate program in your niche. The good thing is that literally exactly the same principles are required to promote any different niche.
Excellent Ratings
High ratings on TrustPilot and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau speak volumes about reliability and user satisfaction. These ratings assure you that Wealthy Affiliate is recognized positively not just by its users but also by reputable third-party evaluators.
Turning to the cons, the platform’s extensive feature set and the sheer breadth of information available can be quite overwhelming for new users. Without a measured approach, you could find yourself lost in a sea of knowledge without a clear starting point. This emphasizes the need for a structured plan when you first join.
Although having said the above, the new hubs have certainly made Wealthy Affiliate easier to navigate and to get started. A lot of the hard work has been taken out of starting your business, as everything is within the hubs. Although I never had a problem the old system, the hubs is definitely a great improvement and well thought out by the owners of the platform.
Invest To Grow
The investment for the Premium and Premium Plus+ memberships, while justifiable by the features offered, may feel like hurdle for those just starting out or on a tight budget. It’s important to assess your financial comfort zone against the potential return on investment these memberships can bring.
Having said the above, I see some people joining the platform and expecting to start a business with no costs whatsoever. If you’re serious about starting a business, you have to be prepared to spend and invest money. I have an offline business and an online business. I know for a fact that, in normal terms, it is far cheaper to start an online business than it is to start an offline business. We also have the pleasure of being able to work from our own home.
Ultimately, like any educational or business platform, success with Wealthy Affiliate largely depends on your dedication and how effectively you apply what you learn. The platform opens the door, but you have to walk through it.
For some reason, many people seem to expect overnight success with an online business. I’m afraid this is not the case! Wealthy Affiliate is not a get rich quick scheme, it’s a genuine training platform that teaches you how to build an online business. We have to be prepared to do the work, otherwise nothing will happen. The good news is that Wealthy Affiliate gives you everything you need to start an online business and beyond. You do not need to look anywhere else, everything is there for you to get started. The numerous success stories prove exactly this.
Concluding Thoughts: Is Wealthy Affiliate The Right Choice For You?
Wrapping up this 2024 review of Wealthy Affiliate, it’s evident that it’s a platform with a solid history and a strong commitment to supporting its members. From the founders’ original vision to the up-to-date training and tools offered, Wealthy Affiliate has established itself as a noteworthy contender in the realm of affiliate marketing and online business.
Before you decide, consider your individual goals and level of commitment. If you’re starting out, I recognize that there is a learning curve, but also appreciate the extensive resources that are provided to guide you through. For the seasoned marketer, the advanced tools and community engagement might just be the edge you are looking for. As I mentioned earlier, I came to the platform and was already making money online. But I like the idea of being around like-minded people and having regular up-to-date training.
Reflect on the community element, often hailed as one of the platform’s most significant perks. Which continues to inspire both new and veteran members alike with daily success stories. Yet, balance this with the understanding that success in affiliate marketing requires effort, patience, and perseverance; tools and support are pivotal, but they are complements to your dedication.
The community is great on the Wealthy Affiliate platform. I normally set a timer on my computer so that I don’t spend too much time getting over-involved with the community. I mean that in a positive way, it’s great to help others, but it’s important that we also make sure our priorities are right. We need to balance our time on the platform and growing our online business.
Take Action
In conclusion, Wealthy Affiliate in 2024 maintains its relevance by keeping very up-to-date alongside the internet marketing landscape. Which is always adding new features and updating training to reflect the latest online trends. If you’re seeking a comprehensive platform, with great support and innovation. Wealthy Affiliate might very well be aligned with your path to online success. TAKE ACTION with this information by considering your needs, evaluating the potential benefits, and deciding if Wealthy Affiliate fits your entrepreneurial journey. I am here to help if you have any questions on the platform, hopefully my nine years plus experience of the platform, will help you decide.
